SEARCH FOR THE NETHER REGIONS - Zenobi Software (Emulated Spectrum text adventure for PC, ST or Amiga) Reviewed by Mal Ellul This adventure is by Gareth Pitchford and anyone who has ever played one of his adventures knows what a sense of humour he has. I thought this was brilliant! The introduction tells you that an evil orc-lord, Beydm, and his troops have moved into the magical kingdom of Kwargz. The natives aren't happy about the all-night parties and things come to a head when the troops hold their annual hobbit-bashing night! The natives decide enough is enough and send for you. The only way to get rid of the orcs is to find Jeremy's fabled golden camcorder. Unfortunately for you, it lies in the heart of the Nether Regions and nobody knows where the Nether Regions are! You start your quest outside your cottage and already the humour starts! Entering your cottage you find quite a few objects, but you must remember to look under things (and look upwards as well). Entering the kitchen you find a man snoring on the floor. He is clutching a wine bottle and his apron tells you his name is Floyd. I can't imagine who this is based on! Wandering around the village is a treat as there is so much to see. There is even a bar named CHAIRS where everyone knows your name! Careful looking around the village will net you quite a few objects, and the further through the village you go, the more the problems pile up (I still haven't sorted out the parrots!). There is a unique way of opening the Tourist Office door....it has rusty hinges, so have a cocktail and think about it! I loved the way you got a loan from the Building Society, all the clues were in the text and were hysterical to read. I also loved the way you managed to steal a vase. I've never come across this particular solution in any other adventure! All in all I found this to be an excellent adventure. It has humour and it has atmosphere, there are plenty of puzzles to solve and plenty of characters to meet. Don't hang around, get your copy now. This adventure is available from Zenobi Software for œ2.99 and for sheer humour alone is worth it. @~Contact Zenobi at 26 Spotland Tops, Cutgate, Rochdale, Lancs @~OL12 7NX - o -
