Written by Gareth Pitchford & PAWed by The Spud (Scott Denyer) 'Can you, Sir Godfrey de Glastonbury, succeed where many great knights have failed and recover the fabled Holy Snail from the castle guarded by the Bleak Night?' This page has work-in-progress versions of the The Quest for the Holy Snail (DAAD Edition). The game was originally produced by Delbert the Hamster Software for the ZX Spectrum using PAWs. This 'DAAD Edition' takes the PAWed 2018 CP/M conversion (adapted by Gareth from Scott's original Spectrum code) and runs it through Stefan Vogt's ANTUR transcompiler. The resulting source code has been tweaked further and then compiled as a DAAD text adventure. You can find out more about DAAD on Stefan's 8-bit.info site. You can read about and download ANTUR from the project's Github page. With ANTUR you are able to take a PAWed game and convert the source code into something you can use to produce a DAAD adventure for the Amstrad CPC, PCW, Spectrum, Commodore 64, MSX, PC DOS, Atari ST and Amiga. All files on this page are work-in-progress and are still being updated and changed, but please feel free to try them out and compare them to the original ZX Spectrum game. Please be aware that these intial versions don't necessarily include auto-loaders so you may need to be familiar with the relevant micro in order to start the game. |
