+ NEWS ++ NEWS ++ NEWS ++ NEWS ++ NEWS ++ NEWS ++ NEWS ++ NEWS + PLUS D ADVENTURES Jon Lemmon, of COMPASS SOFTWARE, has issued some games on Plus D disks in snapshot-form. He's expressed an interest in Dave Whitmore's PAW/Sam disk idea, which may lead to his games being made available on Sam format. Jon has a good knowledge of PAW, and has often customised it to allow arcade features and sound effects to be used within adventures. Jon can be contacted by writing to COMPASS SOFTWARE, 111 Mill Road, Cobholm, Great Yarmouth, NORFOLK, NR31 0BB. Larry Horsfield, of FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION (FSF) SOFTWARE, also has bought a Plus D, and is planning to launch his new adventure, CASTLE CORIS, in Plus D format (48k and 128k versions.) Larry has written several 128k adventures for the Spectrum, and these may also be published in Plus D format. NEW ZENOBI TITLES ZENOBI SOFTWARE is still managing to keep up a seemingly endless flow of budget-priced, good quality adventures by many authors. The latest games are STAFF OF POWER (Sue Medley), THE MAPPER (Karl Bunyan), URBAN (James McHale) and THE UNBORN ONE (Clive Wilson). All of these games are 48k, and are `1.99 each, available from ZENOBI SOFTWARE, 26 Spotland Tops, Cutgate, Rochdale, LANCASHIRE, OL12 7NX. ALL FORMATS COMPUTER FAIR - 11th. January, 1992. The most recent All Formats that Dave and I were able to attend was held at the National Motorcycle Museum, near Birmingham. These fairs can vary tremendously, according to the time of year, and this must have been one of the quietest so far. One stand conspicuous by it's absence was the Samco stand, which is one of the main attractions for many people. Anyone hoping to see demonstrations of PRODOS, SPLAT, MANIC MINER or THE SOUND MACHINE would have been dismayed. Several regular stands were present, such as FORMAT, SAM SUPPLEMENT and FRED, but the event was poorly attended throughout the halls, not just in the Sam area. SAM-PRINT - A NEW SAM UTILITY One interesting piece of software that was being publicised at the Jan. 11th. All Formats was SAM-PRINT. This program (soon to be released) is used, in conjunction with a dot-matrix printer, to produce letter-headings, posters and greetings cards. The package boasts 10 fonts, 8 libraries each containing 105 different graphics, and a drawing pad feature. As I ordered a copy at the pre-release price of `9.99, instead of `14.99, club members may be able to see if the program works, when I send out letters! Examples of some of the printed sheets were on show, and loked quite impressive. SAM-PRINT should be available from late January, from NOESIS SOFTWARE. 12 Oxwich Court, Fendrod Business Park, Valley Way, SWANSEA, SA6 8QP. Telephone 0792 797 770. A nicely-worded letter may result in examples of the print quality being sent to prospective buyers. SAM QUARTET - LATEST NEWS SAM QUARTET, the quarterly disk magazine published by Dave Ledbury of ZAT fame, may be rather short-lived, as Dave is now working with Samco, and may have to limit his activities with SQ. Long-term subscriptions may be cancelled, and money refunded, so it would be wise to check with Dave as to the future of SQ. Although this may be bad news for those of us who liked issue one of SQ, it may be good news for the new Samco newsletter disk, if Dave is involved with that. PIC'N'MIX GUILD ADVENTURES THE GUILD software house is offering cassette compilations of four adventures for `5, the customer choosing which they want. You have a choice of about three dozen 48k Spectrum games from which to select titles. The GUILD's address, for details, is 760 Tyburn Road, Erdington, Birmingham, W.MIDLANDS, B24 9NX. An SAE would be appreciated. THE GOLDEN COBRA The GOLDEN COBRA was an adventure written by Brian Cavers, of OUTLET fame, for the Spectrum. Brian is now trying to get the game re-written for Sam, which may be something to look forward to. Brian may first feature the game in OUTLET, and then let us have use of it, so keep an eye on the club disk for more news in the future. ::::::::::::::::::::::: Other bits and dabs of news and gossip is always around, but we won't publish tempting details until such news is more tangible, as I'm sure we have all heard stories about imminent releases of software, such as the legendary F-16 game.
